The day dawned bright and sunny. There was a festive
season in the air as FCS geared up to celebrate the Festival of
Lights, Diwali. The Employees Welfare Task Group organized the
mega event, FCS Deep Mahotsav. Filled as it was with music, masti
and suspense, the employees at FCS brewed up their own potboiler.
And by all accounts, it was firecracker of an evening reverberating
with the sounds of instruments, songs and a lustily cheering audience.
The fun began at 6:30 in the evening on a musical note with what
can only be called a mini concert by the trio from OSG who performed
under the moniker of the ‘Three Ss.’ The vocalist and guitarist
for the troupe, Shiv Kumar, took the audience on a nostalgic trip
when he opened with the retro Dum Maro Dum. He was very ably supported
by Sukhvinder Singh on the congo drums and Sachin Gupta on the
keyboards. The half an hour performance culminated in a medley
of songs. The audience thoroughly enjoyed this performance singing
along with Shiv and clapping in time to Sukhvinder’s beats.
CREATIVITY
FACTOR
When I was a kid,
or should I say when all of us were kids (of course at different
points in time) we used to find out different ways to runaway
from that big glass of milk…and our moms would always manage to
find out different ways to make us drink that, I mean either by
adding chocolate powder to it or by bribing us of a toffee for
each glass of milk or something something… What would you call
it? Love? Affection? Care? In fact it was about all of them. But
can I say it was an application of creativity on her part to get
that job done. Yes I can…. She knew we were bored of consuming
that plain, white milk everyday so she just went out of the way
a little and……and didn’t we enjoy those milkshakes and cold coffees.

IE7 Off Your Systems |

Microsoft's next
generation browser, Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) has been available
as a public beta for several months now. Currently in beta three,
IE7 is planned to be finalized in the fourth quarter of this year
(2006.) By putting IE7 out there in public beta for so long, it
has provided Microsoft with a large amount of user feedback related
to compatibility and functionality. But to this date, not all
applications have shown they work properly on the new browser
and there's some question as to whether or not these compatibility
issues will be fixed by the time IE7 goes gold. Combine this with
the fact that seventy to eighty-five percent of all Web users
run IE (depending upon whose market share numbers you choose to
use,) a large number of people could have their applications put
in jeopardy by upgrading to IE7.
